This was Chuck and I at the beginning of our journey. Notice the smiles of our faces because we had just started our 14 miles round trip hike up and down. The weather was beautiful and it was an amazing day to be out in nature. We wanted to start at 6am but did not get on the trail until 8am.

This was the furthest we went. I would like to say I made it to the top. We went as far as we could and our bodies would not let us go any further. It was a great experience and I learned what I need to do to prepared better. Even though I had prepared alot for this trip I did not prepared enough. I failed to practice going on hikes to prepare for this one. I had only gone on one hike this year. It is hard to go from a mile hike to a 16 mile hike with nothing inbetween.

We were close enough to see but not close enough to continue on. We ran out of time because it was 2:30 when we got to this point and knew we had to come back down. We ended up coming down in the dark and that was not fun. My pace was just so slow. My shoes were too tight from my big, flat and duck feet. So coming down was so painful that I finally just took my shoes off and walked in my socks. It was a great day and the scenery was amazing. Even though the journey was difficult I took the time to look around and enjoyed the view. Well I will continue to prepare and work to try again next year. So we are already planning on going on smaller hikes and building up endurance for longer hikes.
